Tara Sloss
Tara Sloss is a distinguished professional and an ardent advocate for Indigenous issues, with a specialized education in Emergency Management. Her dedication to serving Indigenous communities is evident in her impressive four-year tenure in First Nation Emergency Management Hosting, where she has played a pivotal role in planning, coordinating, and implementing critical emergency services.
Her commitment extends to her role as a Corporal with the 3rd Canadian Ranger Patrol Group (3CRPG), where Tara has demonstrated exceptional leadership and resilience. This position not only highlights her skills in emergency response but also her dedication to national service and community welfare.
As a member of the Mattagami First Nation, Tara's connection to her roots is profound and informs her approach to her work. Her advocacy for Indigenous issues is not just professional but also deeply personal. Currently residing in Weenusk First Nation (Peawanuck), she continues to be a vital force in promoting safety, preparedness, and resilience in Indigenous communities, leveraging her academic background and field experience to make a tangible impact.

Matthew Gull
Matthew Gull is a seasoned professional with an extensive background in First Nation Emergency Management and airport operations, combined with significant military service. Bringing over four years of dedicated experience in First Nation Emergency Management, Matthew has honed his skills in handling critical situations with efficiency and cultural sensitivity.
His career spans over 27 years with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) at a Remote Airport, where he has excelled as an Airport Foreman. In this role, Matthew has overseen essential airport operations, demonstrating his adeptness in managing complex logistical tasks in remote and challenging environments.
Additionally, Matthew has served for over 25 years as a Sergeant with the 3rd Canadian Ranger Patrol Group (3CRPG), a testament to his leadership skills and commitment to national service. His military experience has equipped him with a unique perspective on emergency response and community engagement.
Having grown up in Winisk First Nation, Matthew's life was profoundly impacted by the tragic flood of 1986, which claimed two lives in his community. This experience has shaped his approach to emergency management, infusing it with deep personal significance and understanding. Following the flood, he moved to the newly established community of Peawanuck, where he continues to contribute his skills and knowledge.
Fluent in Cree, his first language, Matthew brings a vital cultural and linguistic understanding to his work, bridging the gap between traditional knowledge and modern emergency practices. His multifaceted career reflects a deep commitment to serving his community and ensuring its safety and resilience, making him a respected figure in First Nation emergency management and beyond.
